Fu Ling (Poria) works in the meridians of Heart, Spleen, Lung and Kidney which are all associated with the health of cardiac system in TCM. The herb is effective to help palpitation, insomnia or forgetfulness, loss of appetite, inflammation of the uterus and chronic sinusitis. In a legend of Han Dynasty, a maid in Qin imperial palace fled to hide herself in mountains and survived by eating Bai Ziren. She was found healthy and energetic at her age over one hundred. The forest of cypress is a favorite place for yogis to practice as they could enjoy the seeds of Bai Ziren and fresh fragrance of the plants. In Chinese paintings, the yogis are commonly found meditating by tress of cypress and pines where both Bai Ziren and Fu Ling could be easily accessible.
